Deutsche Telekom aims to save billions of euros through artificial intelligence (AI) and automation; the company announced on Monday that savings are expected to reach around 2.5 billion euros by 2030 compared to 2023 levels. By that time, AI-related revenue in the business sector outside the US is also projected to rise to approximately 800 million euros annually, while “new AI services” are expected to contribute to growth in the consumer business as well.

Deutsche Telekom is already deploying artificial intelligence in areas involving large volumes of repetitive work—such as network operations, customer service, software development, and administrative processes—the company announced. For instance, the “Frag Magenta” chatbot handled around 2.6 million customer service calls in the first half of 2026 alone; meanwhile, in the US—where Deutsche Telekom is the majority owner of mobile carrier T-Mobile US—AI agents are already processing 40 percent of customer interactions.
Outside the US, the group expects significant cost savings of €1.1 billion as early as 2027. This figure is projected to rise to €2.5 billion by 2030.
“AI is fundamentally transforming Deutsche Telekom,” explained CEO Tim Höttges. “It makes our networks even better and smarter and our service more personal, while opening up new business models—ranging from AI assistants during phone calls to sovereign infrastructure for European industry.”
The company sees “major business opportunities” in Europe’s demand for sovereign AI. Deutsche Telekom noted that companies and public institutions want to use AI for sensitive tasks while retaining control over their data and operations. It is currently building an “Industrial AI Cloud” in Munich in partnership with US chipmaker Nvidia; according to the company, this facility will allow businesses to run industrial simulations and AI-driven processes. For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the company is offering a platform that enables businesses to automate repetitive tasks.
