Green electricity systems – no question of national security

The federal government wanted to make the construction of new green electricity plants a question of national security by law” writes

After violent protests by nature and animal rights activists, the status of national security for green electricity systems was not included in the Renewable Energy Sources Act 2021. Thanks to the status of national security, the state would have been able to identify additional areas more quickly for the further expansion of wind and solar systems and to severely limit the possibilities for legal action. As a result, the construction of new eco-energy plants will be further delayed, while more nuclear and coal-fired power plants will be shut down in the next few years. The slowdown in the expansion of new eco-power plants cannot cover the resulting supply gap quickly enough.
